CAROLYN RECOVERED FROM ANOREXIA in her twenties, became a therapist, and saw her first eating disorder client in 1979. In 1996, after successfully directing other programs, she created Monte Nido, the first residential eating disorder treatment program in a home setting, and the first to use professional staff recovered from eating disorders. Monte Nido & Affiliates, which now provides residential and day treatment in California, Massachusetts, New York, Oregon and Pennsylvania.
Carolyn’s clinical insight, personalized approach, and extensive experience underlie Monte Nido’s treatment success. She is a tireless advocate, consultant and media expert on eating and exercise disorders, frequently training clinicians and speaking locally, nationally, and internationally.
Carolyn is a Fellow of the Academy of Eating Disorders, editor for Eating Disorders, The Journal of Treatment and Prevention, and trustee of the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals.
